Probably one of the most difficult achievements for managers is to assemble and maintain the right workplace team to take their business to a higher level. Sometimes you get the team building right, and then someone leaves and the whole dynamic collapses. It can leave you feeling like you just fell in front of the finish line of a 100 meter sprint. Hi Renne, Really liked your article and in particular the part around empowering people and not micro managing them. I observed a large organisation spend a fortune on employee engagement and empowering people only for the micro managing culture to sneek back in the backdoor almost immediately. Very disappointing and i think you capture the problem and present the solution exceptionally well. I also liked your commnetary around succession planning, I think people are cutting numbers at present without really considering a robust succession plan. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes. Philip, I think it is important to try to create a structured environment no matter where you live. All employees need to know very clearly, what is epected of them, and bosses need to plan for the development of their business, no matter what is going on politically. I would think working in such a volatile environment makes it especially challenging to be effective, but nothing is impossible. Be sure to get as much input as possible from your team. Don't be afraid to break the rules that have been in place regarding the relationship between Boss and Employee. People are people no matter where you are. We all like to be held in high esteem. Everyone wants to make a difference and we all need someone to tell us this is possible, no matter what conditions we live under.

can this be applicable to less developed countries where there are no infrastractures for organisational succession planning, avalability of information, and good diverse team because of political instability.
